Hope & Healing Workshop
Friday & Saturday, January 30 & 31, 2015
Children who come into families through adoption or foster care have all experienced relationship based trauma which can disrupt healthy development, adversely affect relationships, and contribute to mental health issues. Research and experience has shown adoptive and foster children only experience security and deep healing from relationship based trauma when they become a part of a loving, healthy family.
Forever Families and Hope for 100 will be hosting a workshop on January 30-31, 2015, for adoptive families, foster families, adoption workers, and others who serve children who have experienced trauma. The goal of this workshop is to enable parents and caregivers to understand and recognize the effects of trauma, and to provide tools to parents and caregivers that help the children that we serve heal.
The keynote speaker for the workshop will be educator, adoptive mother, speaker, and author, Debra Jones. Debra is a frequent speaker at Empowered to Connect conferences and other workshops across the country, and she provides in-home interventions for families in crisis. Debra will be joined by her husband, Alan, who will be leading a break-out session just for adoptive and foster fathers.
