Are you part of a church that wants to teach your kids about missions, but can't afford a huge curriculum? Are you a homeschool parent with a missions heart and a tight budget? We're excited to announce our new Stand4Kids lesson downloads. We hope these more affordable resources meet your needs. We invite those who are already teaching children's missions to use these additional resources to enrich and supplement what you're doing.
How do download lessons compare to the current Kids Around the World materials?
Downloads are stand-alone lessons so they're much shorter than our current multi-week curriculum. Most take 30 minutes or less to teach. Like current materials, lesson content reveals God's heart in scripture, focuses on the least-reached and most vulnerable peoples, and invites children to partner with God through prayer and hands-on projects. Most sessions are interactive with demonstrations, drama, object lessons, or stories. Some offerings fill gaps we’ve noticed in missions materials for kids. For example, we’ve created a Kids Around the World for Preschool 5-lesson unit. We've also developed units for mission events. Because downloadable lessons are faster to produce than our current curriculum, we'll continue to add new ones to the website on an ongoing basis.
What mission topics do the download lessons address?
Some, like Tribal vs. Bible, are additional lessons on unreached peoples, worldview, and THUMB (Tribal, Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim, and Buddhist). Other lessons like Helping the Homeless introduce kids to poverty issues. These complement our Red Card curriculum on children at risk. Additional topics include general missions, the persecuted church, holidays with a missions twist, and prayer -- and the list is still growing.
